Not developed until 1953, the first plans for San Remo were drawn thirty years earlier in 1923. The ensuing story closely aligns with the first great boom and bust and boom again in Florida land. What was built became a model for mid-century development and architecture. Today, San Remo is the only mid-century neighborhood recognized with a historical marker by the Sarasota Historical Commission. Read more at
